Dental Emergencies & Urgencies

Any dental emergency like an injury to the teeth or gums can be potentially serious and should not be ignored. Ignoring a dental problem can increase the risk of permanent damage as well as the need for more extensive and expensive treatment in the future.

Pain VS. No Pain

Pain is always a sign of a potentially serious problem. However, the lack of pain does not necessarily mean that the problem is not serious. For example, a broken tooth may not have any symptoms other than a sharp edge. However, if left untreated, you may risk damage to the nerve of the tooth since it is exposed to mouth fluids, acids and foods.

Some soft tissue lesions (sores), such as cold sores or canker sores are at least mildly painful. On the other hand, many oral cancer lesions are not painful at all.

It is never a good idea procrastinate having any dental problem evaluated just because it does not hurt.

Cosmetic Emergency

Sometimes a dental emergency may not involve a painful experience, but instead it is a "cosmetic emergency". We are available to correct any smile defect caused by an injury, missing front filling or crown, which would cause an embarrassment to you.

Denture or Partial Emergency

If your denture or partial is in need of repair, we can usually repair it the same day. Call in the morning if possible so that there will be enough time to complete your repair.
