Dentures - Complete, Partial, & Custom
Escondido, CA

Rendering of removable partial dentureWhen all or multiple teeth are missing from the upper or lower jaw, dentures can be used to hold synthetic teeth in place. The plastic plate fits over the gums, with either metal, resin or porcelain artificial teeth. The plastic is colored pink and can be matched to the color of your natural gums.

Robert J. Malone DDS offers custom-fit dentures, a restorative service, that fit snugly into the mouth, in order to restore a patient’s oral cavity to its usual strength and look. Dentures can either replace a complete row of teeth, or just a selective amount, depending on a patient’s individual needs.

Benefits

Dentures are an easy and non-invasive way to replace missing teeth. A patient simply needs to attend a consultation appointment, to assess whether dentures are for them. Then, an appointment will take place in which your oral cavity is measured, and the data is sent to a dental lab. This will be followed by an appointment in which you pick your dentures up, and check if they fit well. No surgery is needed, unless you’re already having teeth removed, hence the need for the dentures.

Custom-fit dentures also fit snugly and comfortably in the mouth. Dentures often have a bad reputation due to ones that have been made poorly, and do not fit very well. Our dentures do not slip and sit firmly within the mouth. When you come and pick up your dentures, we can tighten them if they do not fit as well as they should.

Dentures restore a strength to the mouth that is lost when teeth are removed and can help relieve other teeth of pressure. Not only do they provide integrity to the dental arch, but also aesthetic benefits, as the dental arches are now full again.

Types of Dentures

The two parts of the denture, the plate and the teeth, can be made from different materials. These days, the teeth are usually made from resin or porcelain, to give a natural and inconspicuous look. They both give off a gleam that is very similar to the one teeth give off, and they can be matched to the color of your natural teeth.

The plate is usually made from acrylic or polymer. Acrylic can be used to match a patient’s gumline color and are suitable for front teeth replacement. Nylon plates are far stronger and are effective when filling in gaps at the back of the mouth.

These varieties of tooth and plate material can be used on both complete and partial dentures. Partial dentures must have measurements taken before they are placed, as the dental lab must prepare the custom-fit denture suitable for the dental arch. This means that the patient will have to go 2-3 weeks with gaps in their smile. This is called conventional dentures.

Complete dentures can also be conventional dentures, or immediate. Instead of waiting 2-3 weeks, they can be placed immediately after tooth removal, so the patient goes no time without teeth. These do not fit as well as conventional dentures and will need appointments for adjusting later.

Robert J. Malone DDS can accommodate your individual needs when it comes to dentures. They are customizable and can be done around your schedule.
